Half-Italian model Jade, 22, recently returned to Australia from Italy and now calls beautiful Ballina home. She a dream-chaser with a grand plan, and as an only daughter with three brothers, has always been the leading lady in the eyes of her Italian father and Australian mother.
But there’s more to this blonde bombshell than novelty cheques and diamante crowns –- she puts family first, celebrates her multinational roots and enters the Big Brother House with an open but armoured heart.
On challenging the model stereotype:
I’m not really a girlie-girl. I don’t know any of the brands, I don’t really know or particularly care what’s in fashion at the moment, and no, I won’t ever spend $2000 on a handbag –- that’s just disgusting!
On her recent heartbreak and leaving Italy:
I was still in love when it all happened, so it was very hard to not only lose him and a lot of our mutual friends, but cutting off, moving back over to Australia, starting life completely from zero with new friends, new car, new house, new family almost.
On honesty and integrity:
I’m the sort of person who, if someone drops a $100 bill in front of me, I’m going to go, ‘Excuse me, you dropped this.’ I always believe in Karma.
On being daddy’s little princess:
Dad and my motto is ‘Spada Alta’, which means ‘Keep your sword high’. He would always say to me, ‘Princess, keep your sword high; keep your head high; keep your shoulders back and fight for your dreams.’
On being overly self-critical:
Sometimes I have to stop and think, ‘You have done a lot,’ rather than constantly saying, ‘You’re crap, you should be doing more, you’re 22, you’re living with your grandparents, what is wrong with you?’.
On mending a broken heart:
At the time, everyone will tell you, ‘You’ll be ok one day, time heals all wounds’ and that’s not what you want to hear. At the time you just want to hit people who tell you that! But it’s true ... you don’t actually die from a broken heart.
On trusting the opposite sex:
Don’t start hiding your phone from me or things like that, because I will kill you. (laughs).
On the Big Brother Twist:
I’m the only 22-year-old girl... everyone else is like 60. That’d be weird.
On having the smarts:
I’m not actually very smart at all. They’ll find out, because it’ll come out eventually, or I’ll say something really stupid, like some geogriful [sic]... I’ll say some comment on geography and it won’t be anything like what the truth is.
On being herself in the House:
You can’t act for two months; you can’t act for three months... You’re going to slip, people will start seeing it and then you’ll be caught out and booted out.
